At a young age in his 20s, Ben Johns is considered by many to be a pickleball legend and one of the best professional pickleball players in the U.S. and the world. 

The young champion has added over 50 titles while on the PPA tour to his name and that list keeps growing. He is, without a doubt, destined to make it into the Pickleball Hall of Fame as a master of the pickleball court.

Who is Ben Johns

Ben John, originally from Laytonsville, Maryland, is a professional pickleball player.

He studied Materials Science and Engineering at The University of Maryland and currently resides in Austin Texas.

Ben is the middle child of seven children and was home schooled by his mother. 

Professional Pickleball History

Prior to his expansion into pickleball and becoming one of the best pickleball players in the world, Ben John played table tennis and traditional tennis.

These two sports have greatly contributed to Johns’ world-class pickleball game one that has seen him winning various titles at the USA Pickleball National Championships as well as 11 triple crowns and is the major contributing factor to his overall success in pickleball.

In 2016, while vacationing in Florida at the age of 17, John’s played his first game of pickleball.

Only a few short months later, he participated in the U.S. Open Pickleball Championships and took fifth place in the Men’s Pro Singles. His future on the pickleball courts was sealed as he dominates the kitchen line.

It was clear that Ben John would soon become a pickleball master. 

From this point on, he started playing consistently and won his first gold medal in the Riverbend RV Resort Pickleball Tournament only a year later in 2017

He has since gone on to win 11 triple crowns, over 50 gold medals, and being named the world champion in Men’s Singles, Men’s Mixed Doubles, and Men’s Doubles by the World Pickleball Federation and other associations. 

Business Endevours

In 2019, Ben John and his friend, Dekel Bar, a fellow professional pickleball player, launched their own business. 

The company, Pickleball Getaways, organizes exotic vacations to destinations that have on-site pickleball instructors and pickleball courts. 

In 2021, Ben, his brother & frequent doubles partner, Collin Johns, and their friend, Dekel Bar launched Pickleball 360, a pickleball instruction video subscription service.

In the same year he launched elog.com, a cryptocurrency investment business.

What Paddle Does Ben Johns Use?

Ben Johns has recently partnered with Joola Pickleball in 2022.  Both Joola & Ben collaborated to create a signature series of paddles called the Hyperion series that you can find here.

The Hyperion series paddles are made using some innovative polymer cores for maximum feel & control.

Prior to his sponsorship with Joola, Ben Johns had a signature paddle made by Franklin Sports in a deal that lasted from 2019 to 2022.
